Being curious about the power of dreams, what lies in the subconcious, has historically driven artists, writers and designers to explore the subject.
Research into nightmares and dreamscapes was heavily influenced by my favourite artist Roger Ballen. Many fashion designers have curated collections based on the subject as it offers such freedom, I chose Drowning, Fire and Alice in Wonderland as my final dream ideas to produce photoshoots for a magazine called The everyday dreamer.
This is an ongoing unit and completion is due in February. Primary research involved questionnaires about the weirdest dream friends had had and this influenced the creative development of the project. This was in conjunction with studying surrealists and other artist movements such as Cubism and Abstract Expressionism.
In this work I wanted to explore diversification in the industry and use of non white models and designers. Histroically from catwalks to front covers models have been from a predominantly white heritage and the industry is seeking to change this.
